The WPL 2026 mega auction is just around the corner, with the date slated for November 27 at New Delhi. The five teams already released their retention list a few days ago, and it comprised several surprise releases with big names out in the pool to be grabbed.

Nevertheless, as the auction nears, the franchise owners would also like to scan for potential in-form players who can be of most value to them in the tournament that starts in January. The Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) is currently going on, and what can be a better scanner than the second most successful cricket league in the world?

Hence, here's a look at some of the top WBBL performers this season who are in red-hot form and can start bidding wars in the WPL 2026 auction.

1) Meg Lanning

Meg Lanning, the veteran Australia Women star, is among one of the most shocking releases this year by the Delhi Capitals. DC-W, who retained 5 players with a remaining fund of ₹5.7 Cr, might have released the star to free up their purse. Nevertheless, Lanning is in peak form in WBBL 2025.

Meg Lanning has played three matches in the WBBL for the Melbourne Stars Women and has already scored 153 runs at an average of 76.50. With a strike rate of 150.00, she also registered a top score of 90 off just 55 balls against the Perth Scorchers in a match-winning knock.

2) Danni Wyatt-Hodge

Danni Wyatt-Hodge, who scored 137 runs for RCB Women in the previous WPL season, also averaged 22.83 at a strike rate of 125.68. Unfortunately, she was released by RCB Women alongside other big names like Sophie Devine and Georgia Wareham, as RCB currently stands with an INR 6.15 crore purse and 4 retained players.

Danni is currently the highest run-scorer of WBBL 2025 with her 179 runs from 3 matches, as she averages 59.67 at a strike rate of 172.12. She opened the tournament with a massive 90-run knock off 52 balls against Sydney Thunder Women. Her other two knocks also read good numbers of 44 and 45.

With her red-hot form and her previous contributions in WBL, Danny is sure to be a hot pick for the franchises in the WBL 2026 auction.

3) Georgia Wareham

Georgia Wareham is currently the most impactful WBBL player, as she is an all-round star with her 123 runs and 7 wickets from 4 matches. She has been an asset for Melbourne Renegades Women with both her batting and bowling firepower.

Wareham's opening match of the tournament against Brisbane Heat saw her scalp 3 wickets, while the next match against Thunder saw her score a breathtaking 58 runs off just 32 balls in a winning cause.

With her WPL credentials boasting 234 runs and 20 wickets across seasons, she might be one of the seeds that can lead to a massive bid out in the upcoming auction.
