LSG opener Quinton de Kock tonked his second successive fifty-plus score this IPL 2024 season, this time taking RCB to the cleaners at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Despite losing captain KL Rahul and number three Devdutt Padikkal in quick succession, the dashing left-hander stood tall against Mohammed Siraj and co. to take LSG past the 100-run mark.

Through the course of his knock, Quinton also attained a significant IPL batting milestone, previously achieved only by two South Africans from an overall pool of 22 elite players.

When Quinton de Kock reached 35* during the seventh over of the LSG innings, he notched up the 3,000th run of his IPL career. The 31-year-old became only the 23rd player in the history of IPL to attain the landmark figure, and only the third South African cricketer after AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis to do so.

AB de Villiers, who announced his retirement after the 2021 season of the tournament, continues to remain the highest-scoring South African figure in IPL history with 5,162 runs to his name. Overall, the Proteas’ batting legend is placed at number six on the all-time IPL run-aggregators list.

Meanwhile, active RCB skipper Faf du Plessis has minted 4,179 runs so far to emerge as second-highest South African and 15th overall in terms of most IPL runs.

Quinton de Kock eventually soared above the 3,000-run milestone by listing his second successive half-century this IPL 2024 season. The dynamic southpaw smacked a number of boundaries and sixes, and even took a special liking to Mohammed Siraj within the opening powerplay.
