It has been a disastrous campaign for Lahore Qalandars in the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The defending champions are languishing at the bottom of the league stage points table in PSL 2024 after facing six consecutive painstaking defeats, a scenario nobody would've foreseen.

Entering the PSL 2024 as previous two seasons' winners, the Qalandars have been thrown back to earth by their sustained failings and now face a real possibility of being eliminated before even winning their first match of the tournament.

Young speedster Shaheen Afridi's men would know they have given a significantly poor account of themselves in the season and don't have a great chance of reaching the final 4. There is still a slim chance for the Qalandars to rise from the ashes and qualify for the PSL 2024 playoffs.

How Lahore Qalandars Can Still Qualify for PSL 2024 Play-Offs?

But a chance nonetheless and one that shall act as a source of inspiration for the defending champions to fight back against the odds and rejoin the six-way race for supremacy in one of the prominent T20 leagues in the world.

The chance is slender but straightforward: the Qalandars will have to secure a victory in each of their remaining four league stage encounters with a huge margin while also hoping that other teams slip up under pressure in their respective matches.

In the bottom half of the table, both fourth-placed Karachi Kings and fifth-placed Islamabad United are vulnerable and if Qalandars can regain the winning momentum, they might suffer a downward curve in the league proceedings.

Qalandars need to hope that they either get more wins by the end of the league stage or win a three-way tie on NRR after 8 points with Karachi and Islamabad.

The Qalandars are next due to take on Peshawar Zalmi on Saturday (March 2), followed by games versus United (March 6), Kings (March 9) and Quetta Gladiators (March 10).
