After a stellar performance in IPL 2024, having tallied 435 runs at a stupendous strike rate of 182.01, Phil Salt leaves Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by making a significant impact in the competition. With Sunil Narine from the other end, KKR openers seemed like different beasts altogether, leaving opposition bowlers in their darkest nightmares.

Now Salt, who initially came as Jason Roy's replacement, is no longer available for the Purple and Gold Brigade, KKR must take a Plan B to carry on the momentum in the playoffs. They became the first team to be qualified in the next round with a game to spare. Now, it will be interesting to see how will they lineup in their final league fixture against Rajasthan Royals, set to take place at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati.

Thankfully, KKR have an out-an-out wicket-keeper for Salt in Rahmanullah Gurbaz. In fact, Gurbaz was thought to be KKR's primary choice as an opener before Gautam Gambhir did the opposite to change the complexion completely. Now Gurbaz will have his chance to shine, and it would also allow the two-time champions not to make too many changes in their lineup.

The others, unless there is an injury concerns, should be in the playing XI for the remainder of the tournament.
