The Indian team will be eager to prove themselves as a strong unit in the international arena after their humiliating defeat in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2025. The next big assignment for the Indian team will be the Champions Trophy 2025. The Indian management has announced the squad for the tournament, and it looks good as far as covering all the bases is concerned.

15 members have been named for the Champions Trophy 2025, and each of them will have their part to play if the team has to win the title. However, there is a chance that a few of the players might not get to play a single game during the tournament. So, here are three players who might not be a part of the playing XI in any of the games during the tournament.

3. Washington Sundar

Why May Washington Sundar Not Be Selected In The Playing XI?

India have three spin-bowling all-rounders in the squad: Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel. Both Axar and Ravindra Jadeja have much more experience than Washington Sundar. Ideally, India will go with one of these all-rounders, along with Kuldeep Yadav, as their spin options.

In that case, Jadeja or Axar getting selected is more likely than Washington. Even if India play two of these all-rounders, it will be Axar and Jadeja, given their batting abilities; if not, India is thinking of variation in the bowling with a right-arm off-spinner. As a result, there is a chance that Washington Sundar will not play a single game in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

2. Yashasvi Jaiswal

Why May Yashasvi Jaiswal Not Be Selected In The Playing XI?

The left-handed opening batter has given proof of his quality, class and temperament in the T20I and Test format. But given that Shubman Gill is the vice-captain and Rohit Sharma is the captain of the team, those two will open the innings in most of the games. If India are not looking to rest Rohit or Gill in any of the matches, then there is a chance that Yashasvi Jaiswal will sit out the entire tournament.

1. Rishabh Pant

Why May Rishabh Pant Not Be Selected In The Playing XI?

The India wicket-keeper and left-handed batter is considered one of the biggest match-winners in the side. However, Rishabh Pant's numbers in the ODI are not as impressive as they are in Test cricket. Looking at the squad, it feels like KL Rahul is India's first-choice keeper and batter, and his presence in the side also brings more stability and balance. KL has also been in good form recently and was a key part of the team during the ODI World Cup 2023. Given all these factors, Rishabh Pant might miss most of India's games in the Champions Trophy 2025.
