Vidarbha are in a tricky position in the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025. The final at the Reliance Stadium in Vadodara, India is poised at a crucial stage as both the teams are giving their all to win the match and pocket the prestigious trophy.

Notably, Vidarbha opted to field first in the game after they won the toss. Karnataka put in a brilliant batting show even after a weak start. It was Ravichandran Smaran who scored a brilliant Hundred and acted as the fulcrum of the innings. Besides Smaran, players like K Shrijith and Abinav Manohar came up with valuable contributions taking the Karnataka total to a mammoth 348/6 at the end of the 50 overs.

In the chase, a lot depended on the Vidarbha top order to take the team close towards the total. However, barring Dhruv Shorey the top order did show much resilience. As the first three wickets fell, Shorey would have expected Jitesh Sharma to stay with him and take the team towards the win.

Jitesh Sharma Fails As A Finisher

Jitesh Sharma looked good in the middle as he scored 34 runs off 42 deliveries. Just when Sharma was looking all set to fire he fell off Koushik's bowling. On the fifth delivery of the 35th over, Koushik bowled a length delivery outside the off stump. Sharma fetched the delivery from outside the off stump and tried to clear the long-on fence with a big hit. He did not get the connection right and the ball went flat and straight into the hands of Prasidh Krishna at long-on.

The failure of Sharma as a finisher will give the RCB management tension. Notably, RCB bought Jitesh Sharma in the IPL 2025 auction for a heft sum of ₹ 11 Cr and it is expected that they will assign him the finishing job during the tournament. The failure of Sharma in a crucial match like this, therefore might concern the RCB management.
