Karnataka is facing Vidarbha in the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 at the Reliance Stadium in Vadodara India. Both teams are competing hard in the game to get the prestigious trophy under their belt.

Notably, Vidarbha won the toss ahead of the game and opted to field first. Karnataka did not have a brilliant start to their innings as Devdutt Padikkal fell early. Two more wickets soon followed and Karnataka were soon struggling at 67 for three.

It was at this stage that Ravichandran Smaran and K Shrijith got together and stitched together a stellar partnership of 160 runs from 137 deliveries. Smaram played a brilliant knock of 101 runs from 92 deliveries and put Karnataka in the driver's seat.

K Shrijith scored 78 runs off 74 deliveries and Abhinav Manohar played a blazing knock of 79 off 42 deliveries taking the Karnataka total to a massive 348/6 at the end of the 50 overs. Given that it is the final of an important tournament, the scoreboard pressure wan Vidarbha with the match moving to the second innings.

Notably before the match, Karun Nair had 752 runs in the tournament. He has been brilliant with the bat throughout and looked unstoppable. Karnataka needed the wicket of the Vidarbha skipper to put them under pressure.

Prasidh Krishna delivered what exactly was needed from him. On the last delivery of the 15th over, Krishna bowled a good length delivery that moved in a tad and kept low. Karun Nair was looking to defend the ball off the front foot but was beaten by the movement and the lack of bounce. The crashed into the off stump and Nair had to walk back to the hut with a score of 27 runs from 31 deliveries.

Notably, because of his brilliant show in the Vijay Hazare Trophy there were discussions about him getting selected for the Champions Trophy 2025. However, that did not happen as he was not a part of the side that was revealed today in the afternoon.
