Afghanistan and Bangladesh will lock horns against each other in the third series-decider ODI at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Monday. Facing each other in a three-match ODI series for the fourth time, it is only for the second time when the third match isn’t a dead rubber.
While Bangladesh had won the first two series in 2016 and 2022, Afghanistan had emerged victorious last year. In what has been one of their most successful years, Afghanistan would be determined to better the same by winning their second consecutive bilateral ODI series against this opposition.
Historically, Bangladesh have had an edge over Afghanistan on the back of winning 11 out of the 18 ODIs played in this rivalry. With a substantial 4-1 lead to their name, the Bangla Tigers also lead when it comes to recent encounters.

AFG vs BAN Head To Head At Sharjah Cricket Stadium
A 1-1 score line means that the same holds true about their two Sharjah ODIs. For the unversed, this series is the first time when Afghanistan and Bangladesh have played an ODI here. Played over six years ago, the first two UAE ODIs between these two nations had taken place in Abu Dhabi.

Propelled by captain Najmul Hossain Shanto's ninth ODI half-century, Bangladesh thrived on the back of all-rounder Nasum Ahmed's contributions across divisions. Playing an international match after almost 12 months, Ahmed scored 25 (24) before emerging as the pick of the Bangladeshi bowlers with bowling figures of 8.3-1-28-3.
