Bangladesh's senior keeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim joined the illustrious 100-six club in ODIs during his tense knock against Sri Lanka in the series-deciding third match at Chattogram.

The cricketer, who had 99 ODI sixes to his name prior to taking the field for Bangladesh on March 18, clobbered Sri Lankan spinner Dunith Wellalage over cow corner for a maximum to complete the landmark figure in the format.

Mushfiqur Rahim scales 100 ODI sixes for Bangladesh

Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim kept composure to steer his side to an emphatic four-wicket victory against Sri Lanka in the third and final ODI match of the series.

The 37-year-old listed three boundaries and a six to remain unbeaten at 37 from 36 deliveries. Remarkably, his sole maximum off Dunith Wellalage during the 29th over of Bangladesh's run-chase helped him complete 100 ODI sixes.

Having made his ODI debut back in August 2006, the right-hander achieved the feat in his 271st match and celebrated the occasion with a 2-1 series win over the visiting Sri Lankan team.

After Mushfiqur Rahim’s milestone effort, here is a look at the top five six-hitters of the Bangladesh team at the ODI level:

  • Tamim Iqbal - 103 sixes (243 matches)
  • Mushfiqur Rahim - 100 sixes (271 matches)
  • Mahmudullah - 93 sixes (232 matches)
  • Mashrafe Mortaza - 62 sixes (218 matches)
  • Shakib Al Hasan - 54 sixes (247 matches)

Earlier in the match, Sri Lanka scored 235 runs in their 50 overs, thanks to a splendid century from middle-order batter Janith Liyanage.

Charith Asalanka and captain Kusal Mendis also made valiant contributions in the middle order; however, Bangladesh fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman foiled their collective batting efforts.

In response, Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan scored a fluent 84 while Mushfiqur Rahim's anchoring act alongside Rishad Hossain's blistering 18-ball 48* took their team past the finish line with nearly ten overs to spare.
