Mistakes India need to avoid vs Bangladesh [Source: AFP Photo]
India was expected to crush Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super 4 match, and they did just that as the Suryakumar Yadav-led side thrashed the Men in Green to win the game by 6 wickets. Two best friends, Abhishek Sharma (74), and Shubman Gill (47) tore apart the Pakistan attack to hand an easy win to their team.
Chasing a tricky 172, Pakistan's bowling was expected to be a big challenge for the Men in Blue; however, they made a mockery of the attack and won the contest with 7 balls to spare.
However, despite a brilliant win, there were chinks in India’s armour that they need to rectify before their next clash against Bangladesh on Wednesday. In this article, we have jotted down3 grey areas India need to work on before taking on the Tigers.
1) Dropped catches almost ruined India's plan
Not one, not two, but four catches were dropped by the Indian fielders and it almost led to chaos for them. Abhishek Sharma gave Sahibzada Farhan a lifeline in the powerplay, and it was followed by Kuldeep Yadav dropping a dolly as Saim Ayub was spared.
Abhishek was the culprit once again as he once again dropped Farhan, and to make matters worse, Gill spilled an easy chance towards the end of Pakistan innings. Thankfully for India, it didn’t harm them in the longer run, but if the fielding standards don’t improve, it might harm India against the Tigers.
2) Bumrah needs to get back at his best form
Throughout the ongoing Asia Cup, Jasprit Bumrah has looked like a pale shadow of his former self, and the batters have taken him down for fun. Against Pakistan, he looked toothless as the Indian pacer conceded 45 runs in four overs without taking a single wicket.

(Bumrah stats in Asia Cup 2025)
- Just three wickets with an economy rate of 8.36 define Bumrah’s campaign so far. He is still India’s best bowler and the team needs him to be at his best against Bangladesh.
3) Samson, SKY worrying signs
With Indian team slotting in Shubman Gill at the top, there was no place for Sanju Samson, and hence, he was demoted to number 5. This move didn’t work against Pakistan as Samson struggled for runs in the middle overs and could only score 13 off 17 balls. He looked scrappy against spin bowling, and that is a worrying sign for India.
Similarly, Suryakumar Yadav is another problem for India. The captain of the team was dismissed for duck vs Pakistan, and this year, SKY has only accumulated 82 runs in nine matches this year, with a strike rate of just 124.24.
India needs its two batters to be at their best and the mistakes made against Pakistan cannot be repeated.
