Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are gearing up for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with the new skipper Rishabh Pant at the helm. Therefore, in this article, we will rate Lucknow's batting for the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league.

During last year's mega auction, the Lucknow side let go of several high-profile names, which include Marcus Stoinis and KL Rahul. However, this season, they have added quite a few more names to their roster with incredible depth and power-hitting abilities to start off.

So now, we will rate Lucknow's batting firepower in three parts: the top-order batters, middle-order batters, and the finishers who can do well in the final overs.

Rating LSG's Top Order

To start with, LSG's top order includes South African superstar Aiden Markram, Australia's Mitchell Marsh, and young Indian batter Ayush Badoni, who has impressed everyone with his striking abilities.

Matthew Breetzke was also in contention but is unlikely to get any game when these three are fully available. Additionally, Arshin Kulkarni and Aryan Juyal are also in the mix, but unlikely to be considered right from the beginning.

As for this season, Markram is most likely to open alongside Marsh, while Badoni could be asked to bat at number three, which he has done consistently for this franchise in the past couple of seasons.

While Markram has plenty of experience batting at the top order, Marsh has generally batted one down but could start the innings in this edition, considering good batting wickets can help his cause but, generally, he struggles against the moving ball.

With a new opening pair for the LSG, it will be interesting to see how things pan out for the Lucknow side this season, especially in the powerplay.

Top Order Rating - 8/10

Despite having a solid top order, the openers can be hit or miss on many occasions. Therefore, they have been rated eight out of ten.

Rating LSG's Middle-Order

LSG only have two proper middle-order batters in their lineup: Nicholas Pooran and skipper Rishabh Pant. Whereas they also have reserves in Yuvraj Choudhary and Himmat Singh, who are also unlikely to get games when these two will be playing.

Pooran's numbers are incredible in the T20 format around the world, and he has plenty of experience batting in different conditions against different oppositions while having the solid abilities to be the aggressor in the side.

On the other hand, Pant can do all roles together while taking more responsibility than usual when he is the skipper. Therefore, with these two in the middle, let's have a look at their stats in the IPL.

Middle Order Rating - 9.5/10

With Pooran and Pant, LSG's middle order remains assured of vital contributions coming on a regular basis. Moreover, these two can dig in and play crucial roles and take the responsibility to provide the finishing touches as well. Therefore, they have been rated 9.5 out of 10.

Rating LSG's Lower Middle-Order/ Finishers

LSG's lower middle order looks quite acceptable with the introduction of Proteas superstar David Miller, who has done the finishing job time and time again for South Africa and his previous IPL franchises.

With the number of matches Miller has played, he does the job more often than not for his side. Additionally, Abdul Samad has had limited chances, but done well, especially by batting in the death with his incredible power-hitting abilities but lack of experience is a major concern here.

While Shahbaz Ahmed was a revelation by SRH last season batting lower down the order as can smack a few out of the middle. In this case also, the sample size isn't too big to deal with.

On the other hand, Rajvardhan Hangargekar has not been considered due to the fact that he has not been able to bat even once in the IPL despite featuring for CSK last season. Therefore, let's have a look at the stats of the above-mentioned three batters in the IPL.

Lower Middle Order/ Finishers Rating - 8.5/10

With these three expected to bat in the death overs of the game, expect LSG to score decent runs in the last few overs of the game. Therefore, they have been rated 8.5 out of ten.

Conclusion

The Lucknow Super Giants have been rated 8.5 out of ten in overall batting with the solid middle order consisting of Nicholas Pooran and Rishabh Pant, while David Miller's inclusion as a finisher would only enhance their ability to score big regularly.

Their major headache could be the top order, as they might struggle against the moving ball, but expect them to come good on flat batting conditions, as big totals will always be on the cards when LSG come out to bat. Moreover, the lack of experience in the lower middle order order could also come to haunt them.
