Punjab Kings had almost 111 crore to spend in the IPL 2025 mega auction and it is fair to say that they bought plethora of stars for the upcoming season. Head coach, Ricky Ponting used the money wisely and built an interesting squad, but despite spending so much of money, there is one issue which the teams needs to resolve.
The side bought numerous foreign players and all of them will demand to be included in the match-day squad as the team invested heavily in quality players. However, as per rules, only 4 can play in a match, and this dilemma will be of utmost interest as the season approaches.
However, ahead of IPL 2025, we look at which 4 foreign players will Punjab Kings will field in IPL 2025.
4) Josh Inglis
A highly talented Australian cricketer, Ponting invested heavily in the Aussie players, and Inglis was one of them. He has already proven his mettle with the Australian T20I squad, scoring multiple centuries.
He will open alongside PBKS' retained player, Prabhsimran Singh. The duo will form an aggressive partnership which will benefit the middle-order players.
3) Marcus Stoinis
The second of the Aussie in the list, Marcus Stoinis is a destructive player and was one of the stars for LSG in the last couple of seasons. He will usually bat at number 4, or 5 and can also be used as a finisher.
Plus, apart from his destructive batting, Stoinis can also chip in with 2-3 overs which will be beneficial for the Punjab side.
2) Glenn Maxwell
The former RCB star has a lot to prove after a flop season in 2024. However, the Punjab side has shown a lot of faith in him and just like Stoinis, the explosive batter will be used as a floater, either at number 4 or at 5. If needed, he can bat at number 3, which showcases Maxwell's flexibility.
Plus, when the pitches will assist the spinners, Maxwell can bowl a couple of overs and over the years, he has proven to be a brilliant bowler.
1) Marco Jansen
Perhaps PBKS' best buy of the auction, Jansen provides a different dimensions for the team. He can bat at number 7 and has proven to be a brilliant hitter of the ball.
Plus, his left-arm swing bowling will trouble the opposition batters. Jansen has had an underrated IPL career so far and the South African star will look to repay the faith shown by the Punjab management. Over the years, Punjab missed a big hitter at 7 and 8, and Jansen can fulfil that duty.
