The T20 World Cup 2026 is just 40 days away, and the teams have begun their preparations for the marquee event. On Tuesday, December 30, England announced their 15-member list for the T20 event. The Three Lions will see Harry Brook take the charge from Jos Buttler and lead the side in the month-long tournament.

England will also miss Moeen Ali, who has retired from the game. Another noticeable absentee is Liam Liviginstone. The England great struggled for form in 2025 and eventually failed to impress the selectors. Meanwhile, this article will shed light on how the star all-rounder has fared in T20Is in the last two years.

How has Liam Livingstone performed since T20 World Cup 2024

Since the T20 World Cup 2024, Livingstone has played 13 innings for the Three Lions and amassed just 275 runs. He averaged 27.5 and a strike-rate of 142.48. England wanted Livingstone to deliver either with runs or a higher strike-rate. However, the 32-year-old failed to be consistent with the bat and couldn't even meet the current demand of the game in terms of scoring rate.

Even with the ball, Livingstone failed to make any impact as he has only nine wickets in 13 innings since the last T20 World Cup. The right-arm spinner has a strike-rate of 14.6, which is not impressive in the shortest format of the game.

Comparing Liam Livingstone's numbers since 2022 T20 World Cup

It is well established that Livingstone has not had the best of time for England since the last T20 World Cup. However, it is equally important to look at the dip in his form and compare the numbers from his stats from 2022 T20 World Cup till the 2024 edition.

Interestingly, Livingstone has similar stats in the interval between two editions. However, the all-rounder has failed to meet the standards of the game and it seems that the England Cricket Board had enough and presented enough opportuinities to Livingstone to prove his mettle.

Therefore, for the upcoming World Cup, the Three Lions decided to go for a new face and not make the same mistake as previous edition.
