On Saturday, November 22, the 2nd Test between India and South Africa got underway at the Barsapara Stadium. It is a special moment for Indian cricket as Guwahati is hosting a Test match for the first time in history.
However, the BCCI face a logistical challenge as Guwahati is in the eastern part of the country and the sunlight fades hours earlier than other Test playing venues in India. To counter this issue, the apex cricket board of India has made a few significant changes to the session timings, such as starting the game at 9:00 am and having tea before lunch. Thus, this article will shed light on the session timings for India vs South Africa Day 1 in Guwahati.
IND vs SA 2nd Test Day 1 Session Times and Breaks
Notably, the first session will be of two hours from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, which will be followed with a tea of 20 minutes. The 2nd session will resume at 11:20 and lunch will be taken at 1:20 pm. After a fourty minute break, the 3rd session will commence from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Here is the session break-up.
- 1st Session: 9 am to 11 am
- Tea - 11 am to 11:20 am
- 2nd Session: 11:20 am to 1:20 pm
- Lunch - 1:20 pm to 2 pm
- 3rd Session: 2 pm to 4 pm
Notably, the play can be extended for half an hour if the lights allow the game to go on. Further, the idea behind these changes is to maximise the daylight. Talking about the ongoing match, at the time of writing this article, South Africa have got off to a careful start and are 4/0 after 1 over.
