The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is still a few weeks away, but Mumbai Indians (MI) have already been jolted with the injury news of their star pacer, Jasprit Bumrah. As per a TOI report, Bumrah might miss upto 2 weeks of action in the upcoming IPL and will miss key matches for his team.
One of the main matches which he'll miss is against their arch-rivals, CSK. This will be MI's opening contest and the team will certainly miss his service if the pacer doesn't recover in time. In this article, we'll talk about 3 bowlers who can be drafted in against CSK, if Bumrah is not available, as the reports state.
1) Corbin Bosch

Deepak Chahar and Trent Boult will play for sure in the playing XI, and now Mumbai Indians might need to replace Bumrah against CSK and they don't have many choices left. However, the South African X-factor, Corbin Bosch is one interesting choice.
The Proteas pacer has not played a T20I game for his nation, but has decent T20 numbers. He recently came into the side as a replacement player for Lizaad Williams.
The economy is slightly on the higher side, but Bosch is a wicket-taker and MI need a solid wicket-taker to replace Bumrah if he misses out Vs CSK.
2) Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman

Dismissals | 19 |

Economy | 8.18 |
The MA Chidambaram Stadium is useful for the spinners and hence, if Bumrah is not playing, the MI think tank might look to include an extra spinner vs the Super Kings.
Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman has the prior experience of playing in IPL and has 19 wickets to his name. He could form a potent spin partnership alongside Karn Sharma as MI will look to start the season with a win. The numbers are not that promising for Mujeeb, but his mystery could be an X-factor for the 5-time champions.
3) Venkata Satyanarayana Penmetsa
Venkata came to light after a stellar campaign in the Andhra Premier League, where the right-arm pacer scalped 7 wickets, at an economy of 6.15. Mumbai have the rich history of unleashing raw players in the playing XI and have done this in the past with Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah.
It won't come in as a surprise if Hardik Pandya decides to unleash the youngster against CSK, and he could be a mystery for CSK batters since they wouldn't have played him in the past.
