The stage is set for a blockbuster Sunday as India and New Zealand will take on each other in the Champions Trophy final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India defeated the Kiwis in the group stage and will have the upper hand heading into this crucial encounter.

The Rohit Sharma led side are undefeated in the competition and will enter the finale as the firm favourites. However, they certainly won't take the Kiwis lightly in this epic clash. Ahead of the final, a big question arises - what happens if rain abandons the match on Sunday? who will win the trophy then?.

What if rain plays spoilsport in IND Vs NZ Champions Trophy final?

If rain god decides to play spoilsport between India and New Zealand on Sunday or if the match gets delayed then overs will be cut short after a stipulated time. However, if each side is unable to play 25 overs each, then the day will be abandoned and the match will be moved to a reserve day which has specifically been kept for this purpose.

What happens if the game cannot be completed on reserve day as well?

As per the ICC rules, if a set number of overs cannot be bowled on the scheduled day (Sunday), then the finale will be shifted to reserve day.

Also if the match has started and only a set number of overs have been constituted due to rain, then, the match will resume on reserve day from the exact same position and from the point where last ball was played.

The ICC states that if the reserve day also gets washed out due to relentless rain then both New Zealand and India will be held the joint-winners and the two teams will share the trophy.
