Delhi Capitals (DC) will be on a shopping spree in the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction, with INR 76.25 crores remaining in the purse. They retained Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristan Stubbs, and Abhishek Porel.

DC’s top priority will definitely be a marquee player capable of leading the team from the front. Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Jos Buttler are expected to draw significant interest from DC.

However, DC will also be keen to buy a few all-rounders. Axar Patel and Stubbs are a couple of quality options in their lineup. However, IPL is an all-rounders game, and the more, the merrier. Moreover, budget is unlikely to be an issue for DC as they plan to go all in on desired players.

Here are three such all-rounders DC will look to buy at the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction

3. Marcus Stoinis

Why will DC target Marcus Stoinis?

LSG holds RTM right over Marcus Stoinis. But DC can outbid them for a whooping salary. In 96 IPL games, Stoinis has 1866 runs to his name, with one hundred. During the 2024 season in LSG, Stoinis scored 388 runs at a strike rate of 147.53. He can bat at no.3 as well as in the lower middle order, which can add power to DC’s batting lineup.

DC is short of proper batters, particularly in the top 3, where there's a need for aggressive intent. Stoinis bridges that gap with Aussie intent and deep muscle power. Interestingly, DC had already done well with Stoinis in the side; he was a vital cog in their run-up to IPL 2020 final. His reunion will get DC a potential dependable batter and a medium-pace bowler.

2. Nitish Rana

Why will DC target Nitish Rana?

Nitish Rana is another good top order batsman for DC. In IPL 2023, he scored 413 runs with a strike rate of 140.96. Since 2017, he has managed to score 300+ runs in every edition of IPL. Apart from that, Rana can chip in as part-time off-spinner, which may increase the flexibility of the team with bowling options.

His leadership experience with KKR also adds to his value as a senior figure in the squad. Rana may not be classed as an outright all-rounder, but his bowling may suit a spin-heavy approach.

1. Rachin Ravindra

Why will DC target Rachin Ravindra?

A prolific all-rounder who will be on most team’s shopping lists is an emerging star from New Zealand, Rachin Ravindra. In IPL 2024, he scored 222 runs in 10 games for CSK. While his experience in the league is short, Ravindra is emerging as a quality all-format player. At 25 years of age, Rachin is an absolute all-rounder.

He has done well as a left-handed batter and is a decent left-arm spinner. His calm temperament and adaptability make him a promising prospect. For DC, Rachin is an excellent choice to open the inning and accelerate in the powerplay. That being said, as a rising international star, Rachin Ravindra could attract aggressive bidding, and DC would need to be strategic to secure him without overspending.
