BCCI will conduct the IPL 2025 mega-auction on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. A total of 574 players will undergo the hammer, but eyes will be on 12 marquee players, who will be presented first by auctioneer Mallika Sagar.

Talking about Delhi Capitals, the one-time finalists have undergone several managerial changes before the start of the upcoming season and retained just four players, which includes releasing long-time skipper Rishabh Pant.

Delhi have retained Axar Patel (Rs 16.50 crore), Kuldeep Yadav (Rs 13.25 crore), Tristan Stubbs (Rs 10 crore), Abishek Porel (Rs 4 crore) and will enter the mega-auction with 73 crore purse value, the third highest in this year's auction.

Meanwhile, this article will shed light on the marquee players that DC can target in the mega-auction.

DC To Bid For Rishabh Pant?

It is worth noting that DC have two RTMs left, and they can use one for Pant, but will they? It was reported that Pant was unhappy with the Capitals' plan of playing him just as a player and wanted to shift away from the franchise. Thus, it is unlikely for Delhi to go after Pant and might look for a new brand face in the mega-auction.

Homecoming For Shreyas Iyer?

Shreyas Iyer, who is part of set 1, was released by KKR as reports suggested he wanted to test his market value. While KKR can still look to target him in the auction, Delhi too would target Iyer to return home as Shreyas led the Capitals to their sole final in IPL history.

Also, Iyer is captaincy material and won't let DC miss Pant as a captain. Thus, the Capitals would look to splurge big on the right-hand batter.

Jos Buttler Another Captaincy Material For DC?

Another name that the Capitals would go after would be England's white-ball captain, Jos Buttler. He can be a perfect opening batter, as DC have struggled with one over the years, and his aggressive intent needs no introduction.

Buttler's addition would also solve DC's crisis of a keeper as Pant used to handle these duties very well. It would be of no surprise that the Capitals might also look towards Buttler as a captain.

DC To Look To Reunite KulCha?

Delhi Capitals have had one of the best spin attacks. Even their retention list speaks of it, as Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel are some of the world's best spin bowlers. Thus, the capitals would eye to reunite Kulcha and rope in Yuzvendra Chahal in the auction.

Truth be told, Chahal is likely to fetch fewer bucks than other marquee players, and it is a great opportunity for Delhi to get a quality spinner by paying a slight premium amount.

The last time Chahal went under the hammer was in 2022 when Rajasthan Royals bought him for mere 6.50 crores.

Conclusion

For a franchise with 73 crores left in their purse value, they would look to buy at least two marquee players. Unlike Punjab Kings, who would be disappointed not to have three marquee players, DC can afford to pay a good amount to two marquee players and rope in a third one like Chahal, who might come under ten crore.

Hypothetically, if DC even spends 40-45 crores for these players, they can have the rest of the 18 players within 28-33 crores.
