To the delight of cricket fans across the globe, the much-awaited IPL 2025 mega auction will take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. A total of 574 players will go under the hammer, with ten IPL teams engaging in multiple bidding wars to secure their services. 

Regarding Mumbai Indians, the five-time champions haven't won the IPL trophy since 2021. They have retained a solitary bowler- Jasprit Bumrah- and will look to build a rampant attack around him. So, as MI gear up for the mega auction, let's analyse and find out who their targeted bowlers could be during the event. 

Trent Boult (Base Price- 2 Cr)

Why will MI target Trent Boult?

  • Since Mumbai Indians have released Trent Boult, they have struggled to find an equally good bowling partner for Jasprit Bumrah. They spent heavily on Jofra Archer, but the Englishman's back injury forced them to compromise the quality of their bowling attack. 
  • So, considering Boult will be up for grabs, Mumbai Indians will be keen to bring him back to their setup. The veteran New Zealand seamer was pivotal in their clinical triumph in 2020, scalping 25 wickets at a magnificent strike rate of 13.76. 
  • Apart from bamboozling the batters with his swing bowling at the seam-friendly Wankhede Stadium, Boult adds quality to MI's death-bowling, as his cutters and slow balls will be effective in the slog overs. 

Rasikh Dar ( Base Price- 30 Lakhs)

  • A promising fast bowler from Jammu and Kashmir, Rasikh Dar was launched by Mumbai Indians in the IPL. The fast bowler was outstanding for the Delhi Capitals, proving his mettle in the middle overs. 
  • The promising right-arm pacer grabbed limelight during the recently concluded Emerging Asia Cup, scalping the most wickets for India-A in the tournament. 
  • His variations make him a valuable asset for any T20I team and he can be a solid low-budget pick for MI, who have 45 Crores in their purse. 

Akeal Hosein (Base Price- 1.5 Crores)

  • Despite being a gifted cricketer in the shortest format, Akeal Hosein has often been neglected in IPL auctions. However, his recent impressive outings for West Indies might pave the way for his selection this time around. 
  • Apart from outfoxing the batters with his guile, Akeal Hosein can be a handy contributor with the bat, as he can chip in with vital contributions lower down the order. 
  • So, he is someone MI can target in order to boost their spin bowling unit and lower-order batting in the IPL 2025. The Caribbean cricketer can be purchased at a lower price than most of his counterparts and is, therefore, an excellent option.
