The Royal Challengers Bengaluru are one of the most followed franchises in the Indian Premier League. Although they have not won an IPL Trophy yet, they command a huge fan army, and fans are always interested in the franchise's development.

As every RCB news is big news, their retention list for IPL 2025 also made the headlines. Well, their first retention, Virat Kohli, was not a big surprise, as the Indian maverick has become synonymous with the franchise. However, some of their releases, like that of Faf du Plessis, Will Jacks, and Mohammed Siraj, surprised a few of the fans.

With RCB having three RTMs during the mega auction, they might look to repurchase some of their IPL 2024 recruits. Here are seven released RCB players from the previous season who will come up with a base price of INR 2 Cr in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction (as per reports).

Mohammed Siraj

The Indian star had been integral to the RCB setup since his arrival in 2018. He has played 87 matches for the franchise and has picked up 83 wickets in them. In IPL 2024, Mohammed Siraj played 14 matches and picked up 15 wickets in them while giving away runs at an economy of 9.19. While the Indian pacer has not been in his best form lately, he has served RCB well. His release was not on the cards ahead of the mega auction.

Glenn Maxwell

The Australian all-rounder joined RCB in 2021. Glenn Maxwell played 52 matches for the franchise and scored 1266 runs at a strike rate of 159.25. However, in IPL 2024, Maxy had a terrible time. He scored only 52 runs in 10 matches at an average of 5.78 during the season. His failure to give impactful performances in the latest edition might have been a big reason behind his release.

Tom Curran

The English all-rounder Tom Curran was included in the team ahead of IPL 2024. However, he did not make a single appearance for the franchise during the season.

Will Jacks

This English all-rounder was one of the keys to the dramatic turnaround scripted by RCB in the last season. Will Jacks scored 230 runs in 8 matches for RCB at a strike rate of 175.57. Jacks delivered under pressure and changed the approach of the team from the time he gained his form. Despite the impact he left on RCB’s performance, he was released.

Lockie Ferguson

The Kiwi pacer joined RCB ahead of IPL 2024. Lockie Ferguson played seven matches for RCB and picked up nine wickets while having an economy of 10.63. Despite being one of the key players, he failed to leave the impact expected of him and hence got released ahead of IPL 2025.

Faf du Plessis

The South African star was in charge of the RCB team since 2021. Faf du Plessis’s release was one of the major surprises as not only did the team do well under his leadership, but also du Plessis, the batter, played his best cricket for them. In the 45 matches that du Plessis played for RCB, he scored 1,636 runs at an average of 38.05 and a strike rate of 146.99.

Alzarri Joseph

The West Indian pacer was one of the biggest disappointments for RCB during the IPL 2024. Alzarri Joseph managed only three games during the tournament and picked up a single wicket in them while having a poor economy rate of 11.90. His performances made things difficult for the franchise throughout the tournament and, hence was released ahead of the next edition.
