The Royal Challengers Bengaluru have been one of the most underperforming teams in the IPL. Though they have played three finals, they are yet to lift the coveted trophy. The team management and the fans will once again hope that they get their maiden title in IPL 2025. They will get a chance to reform their squad with retentions, releases and a mega auction scheduled ahead of the tournament.

The BCCI retention rules are not clear yet. However, if the authorities allow four retentions and two RTMs, then RCB could look to keep these players in their squad.

4 Retentions of RCB ahead of IPL 2025

Virat Kohli

The Indian star batter has become synonymous with the franchise. Virat Kohli has been a part of the team since the inception of the league. They have made Kohli a part of their brand and have not even thought about releasing him in the auctions. So, the first name in their retention list will be Virat Kohli.

Will Jacks

The English all-rounder played a major role in the dramatic come-back of RCB in IPL 2024. Will Jacks, batting in the top-order played some crucial and impactful knocks for the team and played a major role in taking them through to the play-offs. Jacks also has the ability to contribute a coupld of overs with the ball. These things make him a great option for the RCB to keep him in the retention list ahead of IPL 2025.

Rajat Patidar

Besides Will Jacks, Rajat Patidar played a crucial role in the middle-order during the comeback run of RCB in IPL 2024. He provided the dynamism, depth and flexibility to the batting order which they will be looking to keep for the upcoming seasons. Being an young Indian batter, Patidar will be one of the best retentions for RCB ahead of the next tournament.

Mohammed Siraj

The Royal Challengers Benglauru has favoured Mohammed Siraj even in the toughest of times. Even though the Indian pacer is not going through a great form at present, RCB will probably retain him as he has been an integral part of the core for a long time.

RTMs

Yash Dayal

The Indian left-arm pacer's redemption journey after the five sixes over in IPL 2023 started since his arrival in RCB. The Royal Challengers backed the bowler throughout the season and he deilvered from them in the toughest of situations. Yash Dayal's over in the last league stage game was a crucial one and he responded in the strongest way he could, by picking up the wicket of MS Dhoni. Thus even though, RCB might have to release him they would be looking to use the RTM card on Yash Dayal.

Cameron Green

The Australian all-rounder was also an integral part of the RCB set-up. Besides, the performances by Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar under pressure, it was the all-round efficiency by Green that helped RCB sail through to the play-offs. However, Cameron Green came at a steep price for them, so, retaining him might cost them more. Therefore RCB might look to release him and then use the RTM card on him if Green is sold at a lower price to a different franchise.
