Rahmanullah Gurbaz has made history by becoming the first Afghanistan batter to break into the top 10 list of the ICC men's ODI batting rankings. This achievement follows his remarkable performance in the recent ODI series against South Africa.

Afghanistan faced South Africa in a historic maiden bilateral series, which consisted of a three-game ODI series. The Afghans stunned the Proteas by clinching a series victory with a 2-1 lead.

While Afghanistan's bowlers delivered heroic performances, wicket-keeper batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz was equally impressive and delivered two memorable innings.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz receives big gains in revised ODI rankings!

In the first game, Gurbaz scored a stunning century which helped Afghanistan post a giant total of 311 runs on the board batting first. After a duck in the second game, Gurbaz sought redemption in the series finale with a fine 89-run knock off 94 balls. 

Meanwhile, Rahmanullah Gurbaz was rewarded for his brilliance in the latest ICC revised ODI batting rankings. The wicket-keeper batter jumped as many as 10 places to grab the 8th position with a 692 rating, thus becoming the first Afghanistan batter to breach into the top 10 ODI rankings.

Prior to Gurbaz, the highest-ranked Afghan batter was Ibrahim Zadran, who had reached 12th. This milestone perfectly depicts Afghanistan's growing prominence in international cricket and the rising talent within their squad, with Gurbaz leading the charge as one of the brightest stars in the format.

Meanwhile, a high-spirited Afghanistan crushed South Africa to claim a historic series victory. With a 2-1 lead in the three-game ODI series, Afghanistan marked their first-ever international series win against the Proteas.
