The date of the IPL 2025 mega auction is drawing close, and with that, fans' interest in the future of their favourite cricketers is also peaking. The mega auction will bring about some major changes in the squad dynamics, with a few players expectedly getting swapped between franchises.

The CSK-RCB rivalry, often termed the Southern Derby in IPL, has reached its peak in recent years. Fans are always keen on boasting about their franchise with players who have done well for their team while not so good for the other. From Shane Watson to Faf du Plessis, quite a few players have played for both RCB and CSK. With the mega auction drawing close, there is a chance that a few more names will be added to that list.

  • The young Kiwi all-rounder has shown his maturity and temperament at the highest level. The biggest plus for Rachin Ravindra has been the way he has batted on Indian soil. Rachin also has a great record at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium. So, with RCB playing most of their league games at the Chinnaswamy, it is expected that Ravindra will deliver the goods for them in most cases. 
  • If we look at the pattern of RCB’s bidding in the mega auctions, then we will find that they like to have a top-order batter who can contribute with the ball for them. Rachin Ravindra might be the perfect fit for this role. He can bat in the top order and also bowl a couple of overs of his left-arm spin when the team needs it.

Why Will RCB Target Maheesh Theekshana?

  • The Sri Lankan bowler has proven himself as an all-purpose bowler in T20s. Maheesh Theekshana can be effective for his team in the powerplays as well as in the middle or death phase. With the batters ruling the roast at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, it is expected that RCB will be looking for an all-purpose effective spinner. Theekshana, with his ability to bowl economically and pick up wickets, could be a great addition to the RCB squad.

Why Will RCB Target Devon Conway?

  • The Kiwi opener has already established himself as a steady and consistent run scorer. Devon Conway was an integral part of the team during his time with CSK. He played a crucial role in CSK’s title run in IPL 2023. 
  • With Faf du Plessis released, RCB will be in search of a consistent opener who can shift his gears at will. Devon Conway could be a perfect fit for RCB. Besides, the fact that Conway can also keep wickets might allow the RCB management to think of one thing less if they have him.

Despite a cult following, Royal Challengers Bengaluru is one of the most underachieving teams in the IPL. They will be looking to build a unit that can give them good returns in the upcoming two to three seasons.
