The much-awaited IPL 2023 mini-auction is only three days away from us. A rigorous bidding war between the ten franchises is expected, as there will be plenty of exciting names going under the hammer.

However, there are some players who are past their prime and are, therefore, unlikely to attract any bidder. So, let's analyse and find out five such household names that might go unsold in the mini-auction.

5. Ajinkya Rahane

The veteran Indian batter is currently out of favour in international cricket. Despite being fit, Rahane's batting form has dipped, becoming a significant reason behind his ouster from the national side.

He has been massively underwhelming in the IPL as well. Once hailed as a trump card for Rajasthan Royals, the Mumbai batter has managed only 254 runs at a miserable average of 15.87. So, considering his recent form, we don't see any team showing interest in him in the mini-auction.

4. Adil Rashid

The experienced England spinner finally earned his maiden IPL contract in 2021, being sold to the Punjab Kings for INR 2 Crores. However, he got only a single game and went for plenty of runs, following which he was unsold in the 2022 mega auction.

Although he has been a trump card for England in the international circuit, the wily spinner is yet to make a mark in the IPL.

Additionally, he has set a base price of 1.5 Crores and will compete with Adam Zampa and Tabraiz Shamsi, who are in red hot form in T20s this year.

So, considering these facts, we don't feel any franchise will bid for him in the auction.

3. Jason Roy

Despite being a prolific ODI opener, Roy has certainly not lived up to his potential in T20 cricket.

The swashbuckling England opener recently went out of favour from the T20I side after Alex Hales marked his return.

Furthermore, his availability has been an issue over the years, as he pulled out of the tournament in the eleventh hour last year. So, considering his form and availability, we feel Roy will likely go unsold in the mini-auction.

2. Chris Lynn

The dynamic Australian batter's last IPL appearance came in 2021, where he scored 49 runs in his solitary outing for Mumbai Indians.

He had a torrid time in the BBL 2021-22, scoring only 215 runs at a dismal average of 17.91. It seems like he has lost the trust of the IPL teams, as he went unsold in the mega auction. So, despite being a marquee player, Lynn might go unsold in the mini-auction.

1. Mohammad Nabi

The veteran all-rounder from Afghanistan was a cheat code to success for SRH early in his IPL career. However, his form faded with age, as he struggled with both bat and ball.

Nabi has managed only 163 runs at an average of 11.64 this year. He has been equally poor with the ball, scalping only 11 wickets in 18 outings. Looking at his age and form, he will not likely attract a franchise in the mini-auction.
