The 2025 edition of the Duleep Trophy is all set to start on August 28, and there are plenty of superstars like Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer who will represent their respective zones in the tournament. However, there is the Asia Cup 2025 line-up as well, which will start from September 9, and there are high chances that some of the star players from the Duleep Trophy squads will be selected in India's squad for the continental cup.

Thus, in this article, we will look at three of the players who are most likely to leave the Duleep Trophy midway due to their selection in the Asia Cup 2025.

Arshdeep Singh

The left-arm pacer is the leading wicket-taker for India in T20Is. Thus, he is a key member of India's team in the shortest format and is certain to get selected for the Asia Cup 2025. Also, there are reports that Jasprit Bumrah will be rested for the tournament, and if that happens, Arshdeep Singh will lead India's pace attack. He is known for his death-bowling and has the ability to swing the new ball as well, making him a complete T20 bowler.

Also, the selectors have already announced that Gurnoor Brar will replace Arshdeep Singh if the latter gets selected in the Indian team. It is a clear indication that the pacer will play for India in Asia Cup 2025 and will leave Duleep Trophy midway.

Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav did not get a single game in the recently held Test series against England, but he remains India's frontline spinner in the white-ball format. He is a genuine wicket-taker and was a key weapon for India during their successful T20 World Cup 2024 campaign.

As shown in the table, Kuldeep Yadav has an amazing average and strike-rate for India in the shortest format, and thus he is certain to feature in the Asia Cup squad. He is currently named in the Central Zone squad, but might have to leave the squad without playing a single game.

Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal is one of the premier young Indian batters currently. He has done well across formats, and though he has not played T20I cricket in the last year or so, he is likely to get his place back with focus back on the shortest format.

Jaiswal also did well in IPL 2025 with 559 runs in 14 matches and scored his runs at a strike-rate of 159.71. He has a brilliant T20I record too, and fits perfectly into India's aggressive mindset for the shortest format. Thus, there are high chances that Jaiswal would have to leave the West Zone squad after the announcement of India's Asia Cup 2025 squad.
