The hosts, India womenwill take on the Australia women for the second ODI in the three-match series on the 30th of December 2023. After the defeat in the first game, team India will be looking to strengthen their batting line-up for the upcoming game. With a six-wicket defeat, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led group will have to bounce back in the second game in order to stay alive in the series.

The Indian team lost four wickets before even reaching the 100-run mark in the first game. But Yastika Bhatia, Jemimah Rodrigues and Pooja Vastrakar were amazing to help India reach a total of 282 runs at the end of the innings. The top order except Yastika Bhatia, failed to score runs and missed Smriti Mandhana. With India hoping her make a comeback in the next game, the batting would look more stronger.

Apart from batting, the team would look to strengthen their bowling as well. Saika Ishaque, the extremely talented spinner went for 48 runs in just six overs and could not live up to the expectations. Shreyanka Patil and Titas Sadhu might find a way into the eleven for the upcoming match.

The Australian women looked in great touch chasing a huge score of 282 with six wickets in hand. Phoebe Litchfield, Ellyse Perry and Tahlia McGrath were amazing with the bat to take the Aussies over the line with 3.5 overs remaining.

The Aussies have gained momentum after losing the one-off Test and have continued their winning streak in the ODIs. They were coming with a 3-0 series win against West Indies in this particular format and also whitewashed India in the ODI series when they toured India last time. They haven't missed retired Meg Lanning and with the performance they showcased in the first game, they will be going into the second game unchanged.

IND-W vs AUS-W 2nd ODI: Wankhede Stadium, Pitch Report

The surface at the Wankhede Stadium was favourable for seam bowlers in the first ODI and appears to be playing the same way. As we saw in the first game, the seamers had seam moments initially and got better for the batters as the game progressed. The Aussie spinners had some help but the Indian spinners could not capitalise on the conditions well. However, it is advised to the captains to be chasing at this venue, considering the game has been high scoring and the wicket gets better at the latter stages.
