Bangladesh Vs Sri Lanka World Cup Match To Be Abandoned? Here's The Reason

While the 2023 World Cup continues to entertain fans around the globe, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have had a miserable run in the competition. Bangladesh occupy the ninth spot in the standings with six defeats in seven games, whereas the Lankan Lions are placed seventh with only four points to their name. So, considering how they have performed so far, the upcoming match between the two teams gives them a golden opportunity to seal a win and boost their morale.

Meanwhile, there are doubts looming over the high-voltage game between the fierce rivals due to prevailing weather conditions in Delhi.

Notably, air pollution level has breached the limit in India's national capital, with the air quality index reading as high as 600-700. As per specialists, such a high AQI is hazardous for human health, as it can cause breathing problems.

Furthermore, playing an ODI with the white ball in such conditions could be challenging, as a fogy sky will cause visibility problems. The fog takes a very long time to clear, which is why the game could get a delayed start.

Also, considering the air's impact on human health, the match could also be abandoned if the players and match officials experience respiratory problems. To note, the Sri Lankan players struggled to breathe in Delhi Test against the host nation back in 2017. So, if the game gets abandoned, both teams will get a point each.
