In a significant development, veteran Indian batter KL Rahul has confirmed his participation in the India A team's second warm-up match against the England Lions. Led by Abhimanyu Easwaran, the A-side will face the Lions in two unofficial Tests before a five-match series between the senior sides of both teams. 

KL Rahul To Represent India A In 2nd Warm-Up Game

As reported by Express Sports, KL Rahul, who wasn't originally a part of the touring A-side, will travel to England earlier, as he wants to utilise the second unofficial Test as a preparatory game for the five-match series. 

The report claims that Rahul will depart for the European nation on June 2, Monday, four days prior to the second unofficial Test between India A and England Lions. 

KL Rahul is a vital cog in Team India's Test setup, and he will play a crucial role for the visitors in this series. The unofficial Test against the Lions will help the veteran batter fine-tune his game against the moving ball before the five-match series. 

“He will be flying on Monday and will be playing the second warm up game with the India A side. As he is part of the senior men’s team, which will be playing five Test matches in the series, these matches will give him game time and match practice,” a BCCI source was quoted as saying by Express Sports. 

KL's Batting Position In Focus As Batter Prepares For England Tour

In his almost eleven-year-long Test career, KL Rahul has been subjected to a series of experiments regarding his batting position. However, Rohit Sharma's recent Test retirement has created a void at the Indian top order, posing a strong case for Rahul's inclusion as a permanent opener alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal. 

Thus, all eyes will be on the Karnataka batter as his performance in the unofficial game can potentially decide his fate for the England tour.
