The scenic Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram will play host to the second encounter of the ongoing India versus Australia five-match T20I series on Sunday (November 26). The former T20 World Cup champions will strive for supremacy after forging a great on-field tussle in the opening match in Visakhapatnam won by the hosts.

A full house is expected at the venue with the people of Kerala desperately seeking more cricket after being confined to just the warm-ups and missing out on hosting the main ICC World Cup 2023 matches. They will create a spectacle of an atmosphere similar to the one experienced in Visakhapatnam, another city that couldn't enter the World Cup grounds list.

One eye will also be on the ground conditions and the pitch expected be for the second T20I as India try to retain their dominance while the Aussies push hard for a timely comeback in the five-match rubber.

Given the close proximity with the Indian Ocean, the ground conditions at the Greenfield have tended to offer a hint of movement in the air and off the deck for the bowlers while the pitch still plays slightly dry for spinners to have their say.

Under lights dew, however, could transform it into a batters' paradise as the ball would just skid off the surface on the bat and aid big shots down the ground. It could mean a fixture similar to the one played in Vizag where even though the pitch wasn't a flat road, we had scores made in excess of 200.

Three previous T20I matches have been played at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram with contrasting results on offer. A rain-affected low-scoring fixture in 2017 between India and New Zealand was the first T20I hosted at the venue with India further playing host to West Indies and South Africa since in 2019 and 2022.

Notably, India's win over the BlackCaps remains the only time the team batting first won the encounter as the Caribbean men managed to upstage the hosts after chasing 171 and Men in Blue dominated the Proteas after bundling them out for a paltry 106/8 in the following two games.
