The Royal Challengers Bengaluru is one of the most popular teams in the Indian Premier League. They command one of the biggest fan followings in the league, however, the franchise is yet to win their first ever IPL title.
One of the biggest positives of the IPL 2025 auction for RCB was that they tried to solve their problems from the previous seasons. In order to find the perfect combination in the squad they did release some of their players from IPL 2024. Here is a look at three RCB players who were released ahead of IPL 2025 auction and can perform brilliantly in the upcoming edition of the tournament.
3. Glenn Maxwell
Glenn Maxwell was one of the most important parts of the RCB side in the last three seasons. Even though IPL 2024 was no where close to his standards, the Australian all-rounder has the ability win a game single handedly with the bat in hand. Besides being an impactful batter, Maxwell has the uncanny knack for picking up important wickets and can change the complexion of a match in the middle-overs.
The Punjab Kings have bought Glenn Maxwell at a price of INR 4.2 Cr for IPL 2025. The upcoming edition of the tournament will be a homecoming for the Aussie star. There is a chance that Maxwell emerges as the MVP for PBKS in IPL 2025 with his all-round ability to impact a game.
2. Faf du Plessis

The South African star was in charge of the RCB during from IPL 2022. However ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, the franchise decided to release him. Faf du Plessis proved himself as an opening batter and a skipper for RCB. Even though they did not win the title under him, the franchise performed consistently with Faf as the skipper.
The Delhi Capitals picked up Faf du Plessis for INR 2 Cr during the auction. Most probably, the Capitals will use him as an opener or in the top order of the batting line-up. Du Plessis has the ability to deliver consistently at the top and make an impactful contribution for his team. His average of nearly 36 makes him one of the players to watch for in the DC team in IPL 2025.

The English all-rounder was an important part of RCB journey during the IPL 2024. His aggressive batting in the top order was one of the main reasons that they scripted a dramatic turn around in the second half of the tournament. However, surprising everybody RCB decided to release the English all-rounder ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
With Will Jacks available in the market there was an intense bidding war for him between Punjab Kings and the Mumbai Indians. Ultimately, the five-time IPL champions walked out with the winning bid securing the services of Will Jacks for INR 5.25 Cr. His powerful batting and it suiting the pitch at the the Wankhede Stadium along with his ability to bowl a couple of effective overs in the middle phase makes him one of the probable MVPs for MI in IPL 2025.
