Why Sanju's form is a cause of worry for RR [Source: AP Photo]
The inevitable has happened once again as Sanju Samson failed to deliver for the fifth game in a row against the England side. The express English pacers found a weakness in his armoury and they exploited it wonderfully as the Rajasthan Royals batter couldn't do much in the entire series.
Samson was in the form of his life heading into the T20Is against England, but he was quickly brought back to Earth as he failed against a quality bowling attack. His form is not only a cause of worry for Team India, but also for his IPL franchise, Rajasthan Royals and here's why.
An underconfident Samson will have negative impact
Sanju Samson's biggest ability is that he feasts on the bowlers when he is on song. It was evident during the T20Is Vs South Africa, where he smashed two centuries. However, when his form was poor in this series, the RR batter looked clueless and allowed the opposition bowlers to dominate him.
After this series, Samson's next major tournament will be the IPL. If he goes into that tournament under-confident, it will dent RR's IPL title hopes as he is their best batter. If Samson is not at his best mentally, his batting will be affected and Rajasthan Royals' wouldn't want that to happen.
Bowlers have found his weakness
In the ongoing series, England's express bowlers in Mark Wood and Jofra Archer have exposed his biggest weakness.
Normally a great puller of the ball, England have targeted his rib-cage in this series and have used the body-line tactics in the series. In all the matches he was dismissed by short balls. The other 9 IPL franchises will be watching the T20Is Vs England and would have devised the plan to dismiss Samson by dismissing him with short-pitched stuff.
If the RR captain doesn't work on his weakness, torrid time is on the way for Samson and the Rajasthan side.
