On Monday, January 6, former Australia all-rounder Dan Christian stole the limelight in BBL after he stole the spotlight by coming out of retirement in crisis and playing for Sydney Thunder in their recent outing against Brisbane Heat.

Notably, Christian last featured in BBL 12, and since then, he has been serving as Sydney's assistant coach. However, he had to reverse his retirement as the Thunder were short of a couple of players because of injury. Meanwhile, this article will shed light on three such players who donned both roles of a player and a coach.

1. Shane Warne

Notably, Shane Warner was part of Rajasthan Royals for the first season of IPL. He led the Royals and also acted as their coach in the inaugural season.

It is worth noting that it was a brilliant move as Warner led Rajasthan to their first and only IPL title in the first season of the cash-studded league.

2. Dwayne Bravo

Dwayne Bravo, who announced his retirement from all forms of cricket after the conclusion of CPL 2024, has been roped in as KKR mentor for IPL 2025. However, it is worth noting that the Knight Riders group had tasked him to also mentor Trinbago Knight Rides for CPL 2024.

So in CPL 2024, Bravo played as a player and also mentored the side at the same time for Trinbago Knight Riders.

3. Daniel Christian

It is worth noting that Christian has been Sydney Thunder's assistant coach for the last two years. He continued his role this year as well but had to come out of retirement after Daniel Sams and Cameron Bancroft's injuries.

He shone on his return as he scored an unbeaten 23 (15), which featured two sixes. Further, Christian also took a wicket and too of Nathan McSweeney.
