Runners-up during both the seasons of the Women Premier League thus far, Delhi Capitals released four players ahead of the auction for the third season of the tournament. In spite of the presence of an overseas player, the biggest of these casualties was India spinner Poonam Yadav.

What Do DC Need?
Capitals have been a settled unit since time immemorial. Known for adhering to its players, the franchise has perhaps not released wicket-keeper batter Taniya Bhatia under the same scheme. The fact that she has batted just five times despite playing all the matches across the first two seasons depicts Delhi’s urgent need for upgrading their wicket-keeper batter and not merely persisting with a wicket-keeper.
If truth be told, a team is wasting a batting resource if it’s attached to a wicket-keeper batter the way DC are attached to Bhatia. Having scored all of five runs at a strike rate of 29.41 across two seasons is intolerable irrespective of how good one is behind the stumps.
As a result, Capitals badly need a “wicket-keeper batter”. In comparison, everything else looks more or less covered for them.
Players DC Should Target During WPL 2025 Auction
Lizelle Lee
Veteran South Africa wicket-keeper batter Lizelle Lee has scored the joint-highest number of centuries (8) in Women’s T20s. Having scored three T20 hundreds in the last two months of a year where no one else has scored as many, Lee’s current form has it in it to solve Delhi’s aforementioned concern.
Nandini Kashyap
Assuming that they don’t manage to acquire Lee’s services for some reason, DC should then not let go of Nandini Kashyap – one of the newest inductees in the Indian cricket team. Third-highest run-scorer in the Senior Women's T20 Trophy this year, Kashyap could become another Uttarakhand wicket-keeper to play for a Delhi-based franchise.
Kim Garth
Again, assuming that Capitals aren’t able to expend their lone overseas spot on Lee, Australia pacer Kim Garth could work wonders for them in more ways than one. More than capable of being a reserve pacer, Garth would fit perfectly in a squad which already consists of three Australians. For the unversed, as a right-handed batter, Garth has three limited-overs half-centuries to her name at the highest level.
