'Ye Feeling Nhi Aati ki Wo Match Jitwa...' - Shahid Afridi Rips Apart Babar Azam

Former Pakistan all-rounder, Shahid Afridi, stated that Babar Azam doesn't instil the same level of confidence as India's Virat Kohli and KL Rahul in terms of being match-winners.

Afridi opined that while Babar Azam is a consistent run-scorer, he may not have the same match-winning impact as India's Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, who not only pile on the runs but also play huge roles in guiding their team to victory.

"Babar Azam ka run run karna alag cheez hai lekin Babar Azam ke score se match jeetna alag hai. Virat Kohli, KL Rahul wagerah kya karte hai? Woh apne run bhi karte hai, balls bhi khelte hai aur apne team ko jita ke bhi aate hai," Shahid Afridi told SAMAA TV.

[Babar scoring runs and Babar scoring runs in a winning cause are two different things. Look at what Virat Kohli and KL Rahul do. They score their runs, consume deliveries and make sure they win the match for the team.]

Afridi also pointed out that climbing to the top spot as a player is an achievement, but maintaining that position presents an entirely different challenge, which he believes is the case with Babar Azam.

"I'm Babar’s fan, make no mistake. We say Babar is a big player. Reaching that level is one thing and maintaining your performance once you reach that level is much more difficult. When Babar Azam walks in to bat, we should get a feeling that we will win it for us. But that feeling doesn’t come. We know that he will score 50-60 but we are confident that he will win us the match."

Babar Azam has notched up three half-centuries in the ongoing World Cup, but unfortunately, all three of these innings ended in losses against India, Australia, and Afghanistan. Thus far, he has accumulated 216 runs in seven matches, boasting an impressive average of 77.70.
