Pakistan's Champions Trophy campaign is done and dusted as the team got crashed out of the competition in the group stage itself. The host nation was expected to at-least reach the semis, but they lost Vs New Zealand and India and were knocked out as the team suffered an embarrassment.

Why Babar could be dropped?

As a result of Pakistan's shambolic showing, PCB Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi was furious and as per reports, Pakistan cricket is up for drastic change as young players are set to be given a chance in the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand. The likes of Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah are likely to face PCB's wrath, and so does, Babar Azam.

The star Pakistan batter had a lacklustre performance in the tournament and just like his teammates, he is all set to be omitted from the T20Is Vs New Zealand. If Babar does miss out, here are 3 players who can replace him in the team.

1) Mohammad Haris

Less reliable than some of the other batters in this list, but Mohammad Haris is an impactful player in the game's shortest format and Pakistan need such players in the squad after the Champions Trophy debacle.

In 109 T20 matches, Haris has racked up 2369 runs, at 145. He is an aggressive batter who can easily open and can bat at number 3 and should be an ideal choice to replace Babar Azam. The batter should be given a longer rope, considering that T20 World Cup is just next year.

2) Sahibzada Farhan

The X-factor Pakistan needs at the moment and Sahibzada Farhan can give just that. The explosive batter had a terrific PSL 2024 season, and also has staggering numbers in T20s.

He was long touted to be in the Pakistan T20I team, and the upcoming series provides a great chance for the selectors to do so. In 99 T20s, he has 2530 runs, at a strike-rate of 127.32, including 2 hundreds. His raw power will be crucial for Pakistan as the team is missing it with the current crop of players.

3) Omair Yousuf

A player who hasn't done justification to his talent, Omair Yousuf has already represented Pakistan, but doesn't boast impressive stats.

However, Yousuf's talent cannot be denied and PCB should give him another chance in the squad. His T20 numbers are terrific and performance should be rewarded.

In 40 matches, he has racked up 1024 runs, and strikes at 131.45. He can play in the middle-order and can also bat at number 3, something which the team needs at the moment.
