Indian superstar Virat Kohli, known for his aggressive style and fearless attitude, has always carried the tag of being a "Dilli da munda" (Delhi boy) in Team India. Ahead of India’s last group-stage match against New Zealand at the Dubai International Stadium, the former captain shared what this phrase means to him.
In a video posted by the ICC on Instagram, Kohli opened up about his personality, saying:
"I don't know if I'm a prototypical Delhi da munda at all times. Being a Delhi da munda, the line in itself kind of means having a stress-free approach towards things. New experiences in life went to a lot of places, so I wouldn't say that I'm out and out always a Delhi boy. In moments, I am, yes," Kohli said in a video posted by ICC on Instagram.
Virat Kohli Slams Critics With A Stunning Century
Before the Champions Trophy, Kohli’s form had been a hot topic. His struggles in Test cricket, especially during the tough tour of Australia, had raised questions. Though he showed glimpses of his old self in the ODI series against England, it wasn’t enough to silence his critics.
However, he made a stunning comeback in a high-pressure match against Pakistan in Dubai. The atmosphere reminded fans of his legendary T20 World Cup 2022 performance against the same rivals. This time, he played a match-winning knock, scored his 51st ODI century, and became the fastest batsman to reach 14,000 runs in ODIs.
It’s worth noting that Virat Kohli will be playing his 300th ODI match, making him only the seventh Indian cricketer to reach this milestone. He will achieve this feat in the final group-stage match against New Zealand.
