Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has suggested that India Team should consider giving an opportunity to players who have been on the bench in Men in Blue's final group-stage match against New Zealand on Sunday, March 2.

Manjrekar Special Advice For Indian Team

It is important to note that while India is currently unbeaten in the Champions Trophy 2025 and has already secured a spot in the semifinals. Sanjay Manjrekar also said that he believes that the team should use this opportunity to assess its bench strength rather than focusing solely on securing the top spot in Group A.

“Try guys who aren’t playing… Rishabh Pant and Arshdeep (Singh) as well (give them a game). Give your best. If you don’t win the game, so be it. You play South Africa,” Manjrekar said during a discussion on Star Sports.

Will Arshdeep Singh And Pant Play vs NZ?

With the semifinal berth already secured, India might opt to rest some important players. Pacer Mohammed Shami has been managing a calf issue, may make way for left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh. Similarly it is likely expected that KL Rahul can make place for Rishabh Pant to tackle New Zealand's spin attack.

This move could also provide valuable game time to reserve players ahead of the high-pressure semifinal clash against either Australia or South Africa. Both potential semifinal opponents have strong spin-bowling attacks, making this an opportunity for Indian batters to further sharpen their game against spin.

It is important to mention that if India can defeat New Zealand, it will help them finish at the top of Group A.
