The Champions Trophy 2025 is done for the hosts, Pakistan. They have crashed out of another ICC tournament in the league stage and the players along with the team management are facing massive criticism. Pakistan's next assignment is the white-ball tour of New Zealand and according to a Cricket Pakistan report, some of the star players are planning to skip the series.

Star Pakistan Players Likely To Face The Axe After Champions Trophy Failure

The report states that some of the star players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf might be dropped due to their poor performance in Champions Trophy. So, to avoid the embarrassment, these players are likely to opt out of the tour before any official announcement.

Pakistan played two games in Champions Trophy, one against New Zealand and another against India. They lost both the games comprehensively and in both the games their famed pace trio failed to make an impact. Babar Azam, their star batter who was promoted at the top of the order scored a fifty, but his strike-rate was pretty low and did not assign with the requirement of the game.

Thus, Pakistan are likely to try out some youngsters on the New Zealand tour and build their team for the T20 World Cup 2026 and 50-over World Cup in 2027. Pakistan will play five T20Is and three ODIs in New Zealand. The T20I series will start in Christchurch on 16th of March  while the tour will end with an ODI in Mount Maunganui on April 5.
