The Champions Trophy 2025 is less than a month away and all eight teams are busy chalking out their plans for the marquee event. The 2019 World Cup Champions, England were the first team to announce the squad and it will be Jos Buttler leading the pack again.

They are a dangerous unit with full of match-winners and can destroy best teams in the world with their ultra-aggressive approach. However, there have been some injury concerns off late and that has hampered their performances and it could be a cause of worry again. Ben Stokes was due to make his comeback, but got injured in Test series and that ruled him out, and it is important for England to preserve their best cricketers ahead of the tournament.

England are currently on a white-ball tour of India and let's now see who are the three players that are injury-prone and may hurt themselves before Champions Trophy.

1. Jofra Archer

The fast bowler was a game-changer for England in the 2019 World Cup, and was expected to rule world cricket after that marquee event. However, as England decided to use the pacer in all formats, the injuries started to creep in. He first encountered an elbow injury in 2021 and unfortunately for the pacer, it kept recurring back and that hampered the progress he made.

He also went through a stress fracture and as he started to find his way back, he felt discomfort in his elbow again. As a result, the pacer could not feature in T20 World Cup 2021, 2022 and World Cup 2023 and finally made his comeback in 2024 T20 World Cup. He is now playing regularly, but given the long injury list, playing Archer consistently could affect his fitness again.

England would like him to play the whole white-ball tour of India, especially in ODIs and if his body does not manage to cope up with 50-over format, he could miss Champions Trophy.

2. Jos Buttler

The English skipper Jos Buttler was also laid low with injuries in 2024. He did not take part in majority of matches for England after T20 World Cup 2024 due a calf injury and like Archer, his injury also kept coming back whenever it seemed that he is moving in a right direction.

The wicketkeeper batter last played an ODI in December 2023, and so he is still untested in the longer format after his injury which makes his case quite a curious one. He will play three ODIs against India, and it would give a clearer idea about his fitness, but given the fragile nature of his calf injury there is a danger of Buttler getting injured again.

3. Mark Wood

Mark Wood is a rare commodity in world cricket who bowls over 150 KPH regularly, but with it comes injury concerns as well. Throughout his career, Mark Wood has been battling injuries and recently made comeback from a bone-stress injury to his right elbow. He has recovered in time for Champions Trophy, but England have to adopt an approach of pick and choose to help pacer player important series and tournaments.

He has suffered a hip injury in the past too, and there have been back injuries as well. So, he is surely an injury-prone cricketer and could miss out on Champions Trophy if something goes wrong in the India series.
