The Indian Premier League 2025 is gathering much buzz already. Although the tournament is about seven to eight months away, the fans are excited about the tournament with how their teams have shaped up.

Kolkata Knight Riders are the defending champions of the tournament. They did a great job in the auction to back up their prime options for the game. However, in what comes as a shock to the franchise, one of their key overseas buys, Anrich Nortje has suffered a toe fracture. He has been ruled out of Pakistan T20I series.

Even though it is not clear when he will make a return, if he fails to play in the IPL 2025, here are three replacements KKR can induce in their squad -

3. Alzarri Joseph

Anrich Nortje is a pure pace bowler who can trouble even the best of the batters with his pace. The West Indian Alzarri Joseph is also a bowler from a similar school. Also, the fact that just ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, KKR appointed Dwayne Bravo as their bowling coach might contribute into the factor of Joseph wearing the purples of the Knights. Bravo might prefer to have a West Indian pacer under himself whom he can groom and make worthy of delivering in any stage of a game like him.

Alzarri Jospeh is an experienced T20 bowler. He has played 132 matches and has picked up 158 wickets in them while having an economy of 8.55.

2. Tanzim Hasan Sakib

This Bangladesh has recently impressed with his skills at the highest level. With Spencer Johnson in their squad, KKR might look to induce a third option kind of pacer in their side. In this case, Tanzim Hasan Sakib could be a good replacement of Anrich Nortje.

In 49 T20 matches, Sakib has picked up 62 wickets while having an economy of 8.41. Besides Sakib has also shown recently that he can be handy with the bat too. Given the overall application of the bowler, Sakib can be a option that KKR might eye ahead of IPL 2025.

1. Mustafizur Rahman

The Bangladesh left-arm pacer was a part of the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024. During his time with the Super Kings, he established himself as an important part of the on field unit, especially with his death-over exploits.

Looking at the KKR unit, one might say that the addition of Mustafizur Rahman will strengthen their death over bowling. If we look at the career of the veteran Bangladeshi pacer then we will that in 268 matches, he has picked up 337 wickets while having an economy of 7.51. Given that he mostly bowls in the last phase of an innings, Rahman has a great economy and could be a great addition into the KKR side.
