Afghanistan to ‘host’ Bangladesh at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in a series of three ODI matches. The first of those matches will be played on November 6 and the action will commence from 3:30 PM IST onwards. The series constitute as a testing ground for both sides ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy.
Afghanistan recently upstaged South Africa in a stunning 2-1 series victory in Sharjah. They also secured an emphatic 2-0 series win over Ireland earlier this year. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Azmatullah Omarzai will start out as some of the primary in-form batters for the Afghanistan team owing to their prolific run-scoring spree off late. Spin-bowling all-rounders and senior pros Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi will also hold key to Afghanistan’s success against Bangladesh.
For Bangladesh, the series against Afghanistan marks their return to the game’s ODI lore after a gap of nearly eight months. Earlier this year, they registered a 2-1 series win over Sri Lanka at home. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy need to come up clutch with the bat for Bangladesh if they are to topple Afghanistan away from home. The Bangladeshi cricket team management will also bank on the experience of senior paceman Mustafizur Rahman for early breakthroughs.
