The year 2024 was horrendous for Virat Kohli, the batter. He touched great heights by winning the T20 World Cup with the Indian side, but also witnessed lows in the Test jersey as his patchy form has become a cause of worry, not only for India, but for his IPL franchise RCB as well.

Barring a century in Perth, Kohli has failed miserably Down Under and has hit the rock bottom after twin failures in the Melbourne Test. He has looked underconfident and this is a cause of concern for RCB who have immense faith in his abilities.

In this piece, we will talk about 3 reasons why Kohli's form is a worrying sign for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

3) His Test form might affect his T20 batting

There is still time left for the IPL to begin, but with just 3 months left before the start of the mega event, Kohli's form is a cause of worry for the team. Time and again he has looked down and out in the ongoing series and this could lead to him having a disastrous IPL season.

This happened in 2022 as well, when Kohli looked in patchy Test form ahead of the IPL season and he had one of his worst IPL seasons that year as he scored just two half-centuries. With so much negativity surrounding his form, Kohli could go into a shell to get back amongst the run-getters which could be a disaster for the team.

2) Kohli might not be in the zone mentally after a disastrous tour

If he doesn't get runs in the SCG Test, he won't be in that zone mentally when the IPL would come. Kohli is someone who thrives when he is at his absolute best and when he is in that zone. If outside noise and his form affects that zone, Kohli's form could crumble and that won't be an ideal situation for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

1) He is RCB's key player

If Kohli is not in form, it could disbalance the RCB batting composition. He is most likely to open alongside Phil Salt and when one player is out of form, it affects the entire team.

Kohli is RCB's key player and if he is not in that zone and is out of touch, the batting order will naturally look weak which could affect the outcome of the contest.
