On Monday, August 4, Pakistan won the T20I series against the West Indies after the Agha Salman-led side registered a 13-run win over the hosts. The Men in Green were without Fakhar Zaman, who suffered a hamstring injury in the second T20I with a hamstring injury and will also miss the ODI series against the West Indies.

Now, the Mohammad Rizwan-led side are an opener short and yet to name a replacement. Meanwhile, this article will shed light on the possible replacements for the southpaw ahead of the ODI series starting on August 8.

1.Usman Khan

Firstly, Pakistan have enough openers in the squad, where Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique are the first choices, but the PCB would still look for some back-up options.

Usman Khan is one of the options as the 30-year-old also opened the innings alongside Abdullah Shafique during Pakistan's recent outing against New Zealand in ODIs, where he amassed 51 runs in two innings. Thus, the Men in Green can bring in Khan to strengthen their squad for the Caribbean tour. Here is the list of Khan's performance in recent outings.

2. Sahibzada Farhan

Notably, Pakistan haven't played a lot of ODIs recently. Thus, the PCB need to bring in players who are doing well across other formats and are on song. Meanwhile, Sahibzada Farhan is one such player, as the 29-year-old is enjoying red-hot form with the bat.

The 29-year-old amassed 91 runs in the recently concluded series, where he smashed 74 (53) in the crucial series-decider match. Further, Farhan also scored a brilliant fifty in the solitary T20I game he got to play against Bangladesh.

Further, Sahib is already with the team in the West Indies, and the PCB can ask the batter to stay back and join the ODI squad.

3. Imam Ul-Haq

Pakistan veteran Imam Ul-Haq was out of the ODI scheme of things for a long time before the selectors looked at him at the start of 2025. The southpaw was recalled to the team for the Champions Trophy, but featured in a solitary game against India, where he amassed 10 runs.

Pakistan further backed the 29-year-old for the New Zealand ODIs, but Imam scored just 4 runs in two matches. Thus, the PCB might look to hand one last opportunity to the veteran and see if he can turn things around for himself or not.
