Former India pacer Yograj Singh’s cricketing career wasn’t as decorated as his son Yuvraj Singh’s career. However, spanning over four decades now, Yograj’s acting career in the Punjabi film industry continues to flourish till date.

Even in Amar Hundal’s ‘Bibi Rajni’, one of his latest movies, Yograj Singh, as Rai Duni Chand, played an instrumental role in making the movie a critical and commercial success. For the unversed, he has made a career out of playing the antagonist. At times, you have no option than to be mesmerised by his on-screen persona. The expressions. The walk. The dialoguebaazi. Worthy watching on loop.

Having played negative roles for decades, Yograj, sometimes, forgets to distinguish between reel and real life. For someone who doesn’t know him personally, I shouldn’t be writing such a statement. That said, his media interviews are a reason for me to think this way.

Been a fan of his professional work and having watched his media interactions over the years, I know for a fact that the man doesn’t believe in filters. Anything which runs in his mind often finds a way out in front of everyone.

If truth be told, some of his opinions sound unwanted and unwarranted, even for a fan. Even though one understands that certain people are outspoken, this particular human nature doesn’t necessarily have to be ludicrous.

Does Yograj Singh’s Views Belittle Yuvraj Singh’s Achievements?

Ideally, no. Any debate which aims at belittling all that Yuvraj Singh's greatness has achieved for Indian cricket just because of what his father says in the media is as irrelevant as some of Yograj’s views.

On multiple occasions across different formats, Yuvraj has acknowledged the fault in his father’s words. For a father-son duo which has had its share of ups and downs, no one should point fingers or take sides or even comment much on it. Why? Because it’s their personal matter.

As a matter of fact, speaking for myself, I wouldn’t have downgraded Yuvraj’s achievements had he himself uttered such statements for it is very much acceptable for someone to excel professionally in spite of thinking on controversial lines. Therefore, dragging Yuvraj’s career through the mud because of someone else’s opinions is not even a question in my mind.
