India have been a dominant force in world cricket for quite a long time now and now have bagged two consecutive ICC titles after 2023 World Cup final heartbreak. Amidst the Champions Trophy final excitement, there were rumours that the one of the three or all of them might retire.

So, when Virat Kohli came up for an interview, fans were eagerly waiting for Indian star's decision on retirement. He first talked about India's journey in the competition and praised everyone for stepping up in different junctures of the tournament and mentioned that as seniors, there job is to make an impact whenever they get a chance. 

Kohli also stated that after a long career one looks at tough situations to perform and added that he is glad to win ICC titles after missing some of them in the last decade. Virat Kohli, on personal front, could not make much of an impact in the final but Rohit Sharma and other players stepped up to take India to a title win.

"Well it has been amazing. We wanted to bounce back after a tough Australian tour. Lovely feeling to play with such a talented group. We are here to help. There is so much talent in the change room. We just try to make an impact whenever we get a chance. After such a long career. You look forward to situations where you are put under pressure. To win titles, something that was missing in the past, the whole team has to step up. If you see through the course of last 5 matches, everyone has stepped up at different situations."

When Virat Kohli was asked about his retirement, he said that when he does eventually decides to leave the game, he wants to leave the team in a better position. He also added that the team is in good hands now and praised youngsters for the skills and talent they have shown.

"When you leave, you want to leave in a better position. So many impactful knocks Gill, Shreyas, Rahul, all have played well. The team is in good hands. "

His words clearly showed that he has no intention of leaving the game straightaway contrary to what some people are demanding on social media. However, his statements also show that he has a plan in mind for his retirement. His final tournament is likely to be the 2027 World Cup, and Indian fans would be hoping that India win that tournament too, and the legends like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja sign off on a high.
