Talismanic Indian batter Virat Kohli had a forgettable outing in the Champions Trophy final, as ace New Zealand spinner Michael Bracewell trapped him plumb in front of the stumps. Batting at 3, Kohli managed only a solitary run before Bracewell got rid of him in the high-voltage clash.
Bracewell Magic Stuns Kohli And India In Champions Trophy Final
The incident occurred during the 20th over of India's innings when Kohli had just joined Rohit Sharma in the middle following Shubman Gill's dismissal. New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner's decision to bring Bracewell into the attack paid rich dividends for the BlackCaps, as the off-spinner got Kohli's big wicket.
From over the wicket, Bracewell tossed the ball up, inviting Kohli to come forward. As the right-handed batter tried to play a flick, the ball turned sharply, hitting him on his front pad.
As the New Zealand players appealed for a LBW, the on-field umpire raised his finger, giving Kohli out. Although the batter went upstairs and challenged the decision, the third umpire upheld the on-field call upon finding three reds in the HawkEye.
