Jay Shah is currently the chairman of International Cricket Council (ICC) and the man who helds that post is expected to be neutral and unbiased during cricket games. However, he is still an India, and it showed in the final of Champions Trophy 2025 when Jay Shah was seen clapping with great enthusiasm after Kyle Jamieson dropped an easy catch of Shreyas Iyer.
Kyle Jamieson's Drop Catch Delights Indian Fans
The incident happened on the fourth delivery of the 37th over. Shreyas Iyer hit a six on the third delivery and tried to do the same on the next delivery. However, he mistimed it completely and the ball went straight to Kyle Jamieson at long on. The tall cricketer though made a mess of an easy catch and dropped it, leaving New Zealand players and fans absolutely shocked.
However, Indian fans were ecstatic and so was the chairman of ICC. He was previously the secretary of BCCI when India won the T20 World Cup in 2024 and is always seen supporting Indian team whole heartedly. He was present in the semifinal game as well, and his celebration after the dropped catch shows that whatever the post one helds, the love for one's country always takes priority.
Shreyas Iyer though could not convert the lifeline given by former RCB star into a big score, and lost his wicket at a wrong time. Soon, Axar Patel also threw away his wicket and the match got quite tense with New Zealand chipping in with breakthroughs at crucial intervals.
