In an inspiring gesture that combined the worlds of boxing and cricket, the legendary Floyd Mayweather has extended his congratulations to the Indian team and sent his best wishes for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 final against Australia on Sunday in Ahmedabad. Mayweather, a titan in the boxing ring, recognised the Indian team's extraordinary skills in a field far from his own.

Mayweather celebrated India's World Cup success and wished them the best for the final

In a candid exchange with Vivek Ranadive, CEO of the NBA's Sacramento Kings, Mayweather conveyed his admiration and good wishes to the Indian team, particularly Kohli. His words, coming from a champion of his stature, highlighted the respect and recognition that the Indian team has earned on the global sports stage.

"I want to say to the Indian cricket team, congratulations. You guys are the best to making it to the final of the World Cup," said Mayweather.

Meanwhile, the story of India's journey to the World Cup 2023 final reads like a saga of cricket brilliance.

Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma and fuelled by Virat Kohli's formidable form, India has demonstrated an unassailable dominance throughout the tournament.

Their campaign began with a gripping victory against Australia in Chennai. Despite a shaky start, the combined skills of Kohli and KL Rahul steered India to a well-earned six-wicket win.

It was in Delhi, against Afghanistan, that Rohit Sharma's explosive century captured the imagination of fans, earning a swift victory. However, the tournament's pinnacle moment was the electrifying match against Pakistan in Ahmedabad. Here, Jasprit Bumrah's sensational bowling produced a stunning collapse of the Pakistani batting, culminating in an emphatic seven-wicket win for India.

The journey also witnessed Kohli's brilliant century against Bangladesh and Mohammed Shami's breathtaking five-for against New Zealand. The team's historic 302-run victory over Sri Lanka in Mumbai further proved their supremacy.

Kohli's journey has been particularly noteworthy, as he equalled Sachin Tendulkar's record with his 49th ODI hundred against South Africa and went on to score his landmark 50th ODI century in the semi-final against New Zealand. Shami's career-best performance in the same match was the cherry on top, ensuring India's place in the final.
