India's star seamer Jasprit Bumrah is arguably the best bowler of the current generation. A year ago, Bumrah missed out on most of the action because of a back injury and many pundits had written him off.

However, Bumrah bounced back like no one did and has been remarkable since then. His spell against Pakistan in the ongoing T20 World Cup was a testimony of his skills and what he possesses as a bowler.

In the latest events, former India head coach Ravi Shastri heaped massive praise on Bumrah and namedropped how West Indies legend Andy Roberts gave Bumrah the biggest compliment he could get in his career. 

When India toured the Windies in 2019, Bumrah was sensational, and he was also India's leading wicket-taker in that Test series with 13 wickets. Shastri stated that following that bowling display, Roberts told Jasprit that he could have had the new ball in his their era.

"The biggest compliment Bumrah got was in 2019 when he dismantled West Indies in the Test series - Andy Roberts told him, 'You could have taken the new ball in our Era' - that is the biggest compliment as he was the leader of the great bowling unit," Shastri said in a conversation with Star Sports.

Notably, West Indies had a fiery bowling line-up from the 1980s to the 90s with the likes of Andy Roberts, Joel Garner, and Michael Holding. Recently, Kapil Dev also praised Bumrah and stated that the 30-year-old is 1000 times better than him.
