Former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag has taken a brutal dig at England for their decision of bringing their own chef to India for the upcoming five-match Test series.

As per reports within the English media, the England team management will bring their own cook to India to try and avoid players falling ill during their seven-week stay in the country.

Virender Sehwag trolls England with IPL claim

Virender Sehwag trolled the England team management for bringing their cook to India. The former Indian opening batsman claimed that England's need for their chef only took place after ex-English captain Alastair Cook made his exit from the sport.

Notably, Alastair Cook was the last England captain to win a Test series in India, achieving the feat back in 2012.

Sehwag further made a hilarious claim that the English players will not feel any urge to bring their chefs to India during IPL seasons. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the former cricketer wrote:

“Yeh zaroorat Cook ke jaane ke baad padhi 😂 IPL mein nahi padegi.”

Back in December 2023, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) named a formidable 16-player squad for their five-match Test series in India. The squad features several spinners, with Jack Leach spearheading the department with Tom Hartley, Shoaib Bashir and young prodigy Rehan Ahmed.

Ageing warrior James Anderson also made a cut into the side after missing the final Test of the 2023 Ashes. Star all-rounder Ben Stokes will lead the unit, which is an amalgamation of experience and youth.

The first of the five Tests is set to be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad between January 25 and January 29, and the fixtures constitute a part of the ongoing 2023-25 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
